Thrillist.com collated various things to do in an article that sort of tackled a bucket list for those wanting to explore San Diego.

(4) Hike Potato Chip Rock. This is quite possibly the most-hyped hiking trail in this county. The hike is a bit of an uphill challenge, but it’s a great workout with views of SD down below as your reward at the end. If you’re going to do it, you should wait in line to have your picture taken posing on this infamous piece of rock, at least on your first visit, and then on every subsequent visit roll your eyes at the people in line like most locals do. (5) Eat a California burrito. French fries + burrito = perfection. Here are a few approved options. (6) Take the ferry to Coronado Island. Well, yeah, you could just drive over the giant bridge to Coronado Island, but where is the fun in that when you could get there by boat? Catch the ferry Downtown and spend the day exploring Coronado.”

VacationIdeas.com also came up with their own list of San Diego fun things to do. Their recommendations included exploring the San Diego Zoo.

“The San Diego Zoo, one of the city’s most popular attractions, pioneered the concept of open-air, cageless exhibits that re-create natural habitats akin to those in the wild. Located in Balboa Park, the zoo houses over 3,700 animals of more than 650 species. It features a new and unique exhibit, the ‘Koalafornia Adventure’, providing visitors with an unforgettable Australian experience. There are a variety of ways to experience the zoo aside from walking. Visitors can explore the zoo on a guided bus tour covering around 75% of the park, or they can see the zoo from the air on the exclusive overhead gondola lift called the Skyfari. Exhibits and displays are designed according to a particular habitat and contain both fauna and flora that live in a given habitat or terrain.”

Parents.com meanwhile came up with their own recommendations on the best activities to do with children when in San Diego. Exploring Balboa Park is one of their recommended activities.

“The zoo is legendary, but families should also explore some of the park’s gardens and 14 museums. You can buy a passport ticket that includes one-day admission to The San Diego Zoo (pandas and koalas are the headliners) and one-time entrance to the other museums all week long. Must-sees include animatronic dinosaurs at TheNAT San Diego Natural History Museum, the quirky, hands-on science exhibits at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, the kids’ aviation hangar (where they can dress up in a space suit) at the San Diego Air & Space Museum, the lily pond, and the tall palm trees dotting Palm Canyon Trail.”

San Diego is indeed a wholesome destination for the whole family.
